I’m a mum of 41 kids at 23 & just welcomed my fifth grandchild – looking after them isn’t easy but sleeping at 7pm helps
HAVING one child can be challenging, so we can only imagine just how hard it must be having 41.
And one woman revealed the realities of having 41 children to look after claiming it’s not always easy.
Tusayiwe is now a mum to 41 children at the age of 23[/caption] And she’s also a grandparent to five after welcoming her latest grandson[/caption]Posting to TikTok, Tusayiwe Mkhondya, revealed she had just welcomed her fifth grandchild, Owen, into the world at 23.
She wrote: “I am 23 years old and this is my fifth grandson and we have named him Owen.”
The mum revealed that all of her 41 children have different stories about how they ended up part of her family in the home she runs in Malawi for orphans, street kids and teen mothers.
Tusayiwe knows the struggles her children have gone through herself – becoming homeless at the age of 18 with her son Jeremy.

Shortly after, she opened her organisation You Are Not Alone (YANA).
With 41 children to look after, she has her work cut out – the family currently lives in two houses close together, and the mum hopes to build a third so she can help look after more.
The kids in her shelter range from newborn babies to the age of 16 and she has a very gruelling routine when it comes to taking care of them.
Her day begins at 4am, when she begins to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Tusayiwe added: “I am the only one who cooks for the under 5 children and every child has his/her own morning chores.”
Fortunately, most of the children go to bed at 7pm, which helps make her day a little more manageable as she only has to tend to the babies.
The mum explained: “I have to feed them and also change their diapers and I also have to prepare for work and the next day.”
The mum added: “All the kids are not abandoned. Some are orphans, some have only one parent, some have both parents but they have been abandoned by those parents.
“I provide education, empowerment and skills.”
People quickly took to the comments to praise the mum, one wrote: “You’re an amazing woman.”
