Liverpool’s disappointing league start shows no immediate sign of a turnaround following yet another defeat – this time at home to Leeds United.
It’s cranked up the pressure even further on Klopp, despite reasonable European form.
Liverpool sit NINTH, already 13 points behind Manchester City and 15 behind leaders Arsenal at this stage.
Klopp’s current contract still has the best part of three-and-a-half years on it, having recently penned a deal until 2026.
But will he last that long in the role?
If not, assistant Lijnders is in pole position to take over according to Betfair.
Lijnders has worked his way through the academy and been promoted to the first team to work under the German.
He’s a very highly respected coach and a move to Head Coach would be a fitting end to a stunning rise through the club.

He has also deputised on the touchline for Klopp in the past.
He’s replaced Steven Gerrard – sacked recently at Aston Villa – as the favourite for the job.
Gerrard had a decent spell at Rangers and many saw Villa as the stepping stone to the Anfield job, though that didn’t quite work out as planned.
He’s fallen behind now to 9/2, which is now the third favourite for the role with Betfair.
That’s because ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been very well supported and is now the 4/1 second favourite.
He has been linked with several big posts since being dismissed at Stamford Bridge but could be seen as a likely successor to his German compatriot.
Tuchel won the Champions League at Stamford Bridge before it all fell apart for him, though it would likely only be a big job that would tempt him back in at this stage.

Latest Betfair odds
- Pep Lijnders 5/2
- Thomas Tuchel 4/1
- Steven Gerrard 9/2
- Julian Nagelsmann 13/2
- Ange Postecoglou 15/2
- Xabi Alonso 10/1
- Diego Simeone 14/1
Julian Nagelsmann is another who has saw considerable market support and is now 13/2 from 10/1 earlier this week.
He has a decent gig at Bayern Munich at the minute with his side flying in Europe at the minute.
Though they are in an unlikely scrap with Union Berlin domestically, it’s believed that will be a challenge they will overcome in the long run.
He’s one of the highest rated coaches across Europe and would be an interesting move for Liverpool.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou (15/2) is just ahead of club legend Xabi Alonso (10/1) and Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone (14/1) who has been well backed but saw his side dumped early from the Champions League this week.
