“In November of 21 I was diagnosed with stage 3 germ cell cancer,” Roth shared on IG.
“Since then I’ve been fighting it daily, throwing everything I can at it. Chemo, high dose chemo, medication, transplants, transfusions, surgeries etc. It is called Choriocarcinoma, it is rare, and it has managed to stay many steps ahead of me no matter what I throw at it.
“It has taken away half of my hearing, 60pounds of weight, my confidence, and will continue its murderous path until I can manage to stop it some how, and kill it.”

What is germ cell cancer? Germ cell tumors can appear at any age.
They develop from cells that produce eggs or sperm so germ cell tumors can affect the ovaries or testes.
However, it is also possible for a germ cell tumor to develop in other parts of the body.
As a baby develops during pregnancy, the cells producing eggs or sperm normally move to the ovaries or testes.
However, rarely they can settle in other parts of the body where they can develop into tumors.
The most common places for this to happen are the bottom of the spine (sacrococcygeal), the brain, chest and the abdomen.
Each year, fewer than 45 children in the UK develop malignant germ cell tumors.
Most children who develop germ cell tumors will be cured.
The cause of germ cell tumors is not well understood but research into the causes of different cancers is ongoing.
What are the symptoms? The signs are dependent on where in the body the tumor is.
- Constipation – if the tumor is in the pelvis.
 - Trouble holding urine in – if in the pelvis.
 - Leg weakness – if the tumor presses on the nerve at the bottom of the spine.

How is it treated?
Treatment programs will depend on where the tumor is, the size and whether it has spread and the type of germ cell tumor.
You may have to have surgery to remove it and this might be enough if it’s small enough to remove. After surgery, you may also have to have chemotherapy.
