Shock way UK Twitter workers were told of mass layoffs TODAY – with some getting ‘laptops wiped while they were asleep’
TWITTER employees had their computers wiped as they slept last night – as thousands face the chop TODAY.
In a memo to all staff on Thursday, workers were told they would receive a message in their private accounts if sacked.
Twitter – which has a global workforce of around 8,000 – said the cuts are to ‘ensure the company’s success moving forward’[/caption]While those keeping their jobs would receive the news in their work emails.
The email subject is menacingly titled “Your Role at Twitter” and will land in inboxes by 4pm UK time on Friday.
A source told The Sun that “circa 1,000 staff” at the UK offices in London and Manchester are at risk of losing their jobs.
It is unclear how many staff Twitter employs in the UK.

Staff across the world are currently unable to get into their offices as they nervously await the dreaded email.

Twitter – which has a global workforce of around 8,000 – said the cuts are to “ensure the company’s success moving forward”.
The email read: “We will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday.
“We recognise this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter.

“But this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward.”
But in a ferocious statement on Friday, Mike Clancy, general secretary of Prospect union, which represents engineers and scientists, said he was working to “defend” UK livelihoods.
He slammed: “Twitter is treating its people appallingly.
“These are people who have invested their time, effort and enthusiasm in building the platform, which risks being thrown away.”
Amid the carnage, one ex-staff member who got the sack revealed she is eight months pregnant and has a nine month old.
The US-based mum fumed: “Just got cut off from laptop access… Really the last day Twitter was Twitter.”
Another laid off member of staff said his son “had too see his daddy cry”.
Twitter has been sued in a San Francisco court as a result of the sackings.
Staffers are claiming that they’ve not been given enough notice – which they say is in violation of state and federal law, according to Bloomberg.
Tesla mogul Musk – worth $200 billion and the richest man to ever live – snapped up Twitter a £39.3bn deal last week.
