Poundland to take on 1,200 seasonal staff as it reveals days it will close at Christmas

POUNDLAND is recruiting over 1,000 new seasonal staff to help the discount chain keep up with demand over Christmas.

The discount retailer will take on around 1,200 seasonal colleagues to work in stores across the UK and Ireland in the run-up to this Christmas.

The retailer has also confirmed when it plans to shut its stores during the Christmas period[/caption]

Poundland has said that the temporary shop floor roles will end on Christmas Eve, though some colleagues may be taken on permanently where roles are available.

Simon Wells, Poundland people director said: “The extra recruits will help us make sure that our stores are great places to work and shop at the busiest time of year.”

Poundland has also confirmed which days it will shut up shop during the busy festive period.

The discount retailer has now confirmed that for the third year in a row all its stores will be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to give colleagues a well-deserved break.
