Out-of-control Dobermann named El Chapo mauled girl, 3, before horrified grandmother pulled beast off in horror attack

A TODDLER was left with life-changing injuries after a raging Dobermann bit her as her horrified gran tried to pull the beast off.

The toddler was walking on the pavement in Havant, Hampshire, when the grandmother stopped to speak to dog owner Lisa-Marie Garner.

Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court heard the Dobermann – named El Chapo – then sank its teeth into the youngster during the attack on August 8.

She suffered a “significant wound” to her back and was immediately rushed to hospital in need of surgery.

Garner, 45, indicated a guilty plea to being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control.

Laura Jenking-Rees, prosecuting, told the court: “The child was walking along the pavement in Botley Drive, she saw the defendant and the grandmother stopped to speak to the defendant.

“During the course of that, the dog suddenly took hold of the child as the child ran past and bit the child on her side and would not let go.

“It took a number of people, including the defendant, to make the dog release the child.

“She had deep bite marks and was taken to hospital and had to be operated on.

“She was very deeply affected by this, as was her family.”

Garner was bailed to return to Portsmouth Crown Court for sentencing on December 9.

Under her bail conditions, she must not exercise dogs in public places without muzzles or leads.

Police confirmed the Dobermann has been destroyed.
