I was charged almost £60 for pick & mix sweet at Christmas market – I had to put most of them back, but I still owed £26
A MAN who was charged almost £60 for “Pick n Mix” sweets at a Christmas market said he put most of them back only to be billed £26.
Posting the footage on TikTok, the dad shows a video of the till total while talking about the incredible prices.
The dad was shocked at being charged nearly £60 for pick n mix sweets[/caption] And he lowered down the price to what was still a very costly £26[/caption]He can be heard saying: “Guys £26 for these sweets wow, how much was it before this.”
And the workers can heard on video confirming that it was a whopping £57 for the bag of sweets.
The dad then says that he had to lower it down by £30 but lamented how much he was charged for what looked to be a very routine-sized bag.
As always, viewers on TikTok were quick to weigh in with their own opinions.
One shocked user commented: “FIFTY WHATTTTTT LMAOOO with this cost of living crisis???”
“Walk away leave them,” a second bluntly said.
“That’s outrageous. The fact that you still paid for it… I understand that you might’ve wanted to get them for the kids,” commented a third TikToker.
And another hilariously recounted: ” I bought a giant gobstopper from one years ago… £16 on its own.
“Kept it in the fridge and got my money’s worth out of it for a year.”
It comes as many Christmas markets vowed to keep their prices fair this silly season to boost families grappling with the cost-of-living crisis.
But lots of customers have shared their experiences of underwhelming festive markets this season and complained of exorbitant prices.
Some slammed Winter Wonderland in London as a total rip-off after they paid £7 for a potato and £8 for candy floss.
Others said had similar views on a Manchester event after paying £20 for a hotdog and pint there.
Some festival-goers said they coughed up the same for a beer and sausage in Newcastle.
One woman said she even splashed £5 on measly potatoes at a London market – and said they weren’t as good as Aunt Bessies.
And a couple claimed they visited the “most disappointing” in the UK after arriving to find a handful of rubbish stalls and terrible mulled wine.
