My thrilled husband found an expensive washing basket outside someone’s house – then I realised his MASSIVE error
A WOMAN was left in hysterics when she realised her husband’s massive error, after he came home proudly toting a washing basket he’d found outside someone’s house.
She took to Mumsnet to explain the situation, revealing that her other half had been thrilled when he spotted the basket – which usually retails for around £180.

“You know how people leave things outside their houses sometimes for people to take?” she began.
“Today, my husband came home with a Lloyd Looms washing basket. It’s quite nice and we need a new one.
“I asked him where he had got it and he said there was a house with lots of good things outside it.
“He brought this but said there were a few other bits we might want to look at.”
When she went around the corner to see the house, and the other bits her husband had wanted her to see, she realised that “people were actually moving in to the property and the stuff was their ACTUAL stuff”.
“I find this hilarious and embarrassing in equal measure,” she added, before asking for advice about how she should return the basket “without being weird”.
“Not helpful at all but I can just imagine your face when you realised…. hilarious,” one person commented on the post.
As another added: “Well it’s a memorable way to meet your new neighbours!”
“Just take it round and explain,” a third suggested.
“You must return it and they’ll probably laugh about it!”
While someone else wrote: “I think I’d probably wait until dead of night then sneak out and put it on their doorstep.
“Then keep my eyes peeled on here for a thread where someone has lost a washing basket while moving house then updates the next day to say it appeared on their doorstep overnight.”
“Dead of night is the best!” the woman replied.
“Hadn’t thought of that. Think I’ll be sneaking out around midnight!”
