Inside Royal Family Christmas as Princess Kate treats fans to rare glimpse of Windsor Castle Christmas decorations

PRINCESS Kate has given fans a rare glimpse of the Christmas decorations inside Windsor Castle.

The glittering royal residence in Berkshire has already undergone it’s festive makeover for the year – including decorative wreaths and baubals.

But tonight, the Princess of Wales revealed the look of one of Windsor’s more intimate spaces during a segment of the Royal Carols: Together At Christmas programme.

In the clip, Kate is seen sat with three members of the public who went “above and beyond” to help their communities this year.

Midwife Carys Hammond, 39, volunteer Akbar Khan, 50, and Ex-Veteran Lionel Digby, 87, all shared some special pictures from Christmas time – including fond memories of the late Queen.

However, fans were also given a glimpse of the decorative style of the cosy quarters including red flowers, candles and series of fairy lights.

Many of the choices appeared to mark a uniformity with the rest of the castle.

Members of the family normally spend the holiday period at Sandringham, Norfolk, and will do the same this year, Buckingham Palace confirmed today.

But celebrations will reportedly be much “less formal” than usual.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! there will be no bowing, curtsying or watching the King’s prerecorded TV address, making it a “less buttoned up” affair.

Some traditions are expected to remain though, like the December 25 service at St Mary Magdalene Church before Christmas dinner.

During the pandemic, the Queen spent two consecutive Christmases at Windsor Castle – the first with the Duke of Edinburgh, separated from her wider family.

And as her family congregated at Kate’s carol concert, the Princess paid tribute to Her Majesty’s “incredible legacy” and thanked her for “bringing us together” in a touching video message.

“This year, we’ve invited hundreds of inspiring individuals to the service.

“Those who showcase the power of connectedness and community values, allowing us to continue Her Majesty’s tradition of recognising and thanking those who have gone above and beyond to support others.

“Her Majesty leaves with us an incredible legacy and one that has deeply inspired many of us.”

Kate dedicated the service to the Queen and to “all those who are sadly no longer with us”.

She added: “So, whilst Christmas will feel very different this year, we can still remember the memories and traditions we shared.

“Take time to slow down and celebrate with family and friends all the wonderful things that make Christmas so special.”
