I’m a cleaning fan here’s three parts of your dishwasher that you didn’t know you were supposed to clean
DID you know that there are parts in your dishwasher that you are supposed to clean?
Mai Zimmy is a cleaning and cooking fan.
She shared helpful cleaning and cooking tips on Tiktok.
In a recent video she shared some three tips you need to know when cleaning your dishwasher.
More specifically three areas you didn’t know you need to clean
Mia said: “Three dishwasher cleaning hacks you need to know.”
Filters
Mai said: “First I’m going to give a trigger warning because it can be disturbing if you don’t know you have this but you’ve got to clean your dishwashers filter, because yeah self explanatory its nasty”
Not every dishwasher has an accessible filter, but if you can reach and remove yours you should.
Be sure to let the soak in some soapy water and vinegar to help remove any limescale build up.
Seals
Mai said: Next one I discovered without looking at the manual and that was to clean the crevice between the bottom of the machine and the door, that smally goo likes to hide here too.”

For this Mai is using an electric cleaning brush so she can really get into the seals.
The are great for cleaning other hard to reach places in home like grout in tiling and the bases of taps.
Most come with adaptable heads as well
Sanitize
Mai said: “Once all the obvious nastiness is cleared away fill a tupperware draw with vinegar on the top rack and run on a sanitize cycle and wal-la it’s like getting a new dishwasher.”
Vinegar is a great way to give the inside of your dishwasher some shine, it also works great for washing machines too.
If your dishwasher doesn’t come with a sanitizer setting a regular cycle will work just as well.
The water runs hot enough on dishwashers to sanitize on its own provided its been cleaned first.
