I’m a savvy mum and save money with my ‘Monday to Wednesday rule’ & there’s a way I’ll be richer by March too
SAVING money can be really hard if you don’t know where to begin.

She explained on he TikTok account @ducchessofthrift that as much as she loves bagging a bargain in charity shops, she’s pressing pause on buying anything new right now.
“I’m not going to buy anything, I don’t need anything. I like stuff and I want stuff, but I don’t need anything,” she told viewers.
The savvy saver explained that she’s decided not to buy anything new until March, since she knows there’s no real reason to buy anything.
But the main habit that will make a difference to how much she spends is “not spending a penny Monday to Wednesday.”
Of course, there are some unavoidable things you might need to buy or spend money on, but you probably don’t need to nip to the shop for a snack or buy a new pair of shoes you’ve got nowhere to wear yet.
The mum explained that she does a weekly food shop at the end of the week and that will be enough for the family.
“There’s no need to top it up, if you run out of stuff, what’s going to happen?
“If you run out of one thing is the world really going to fall apart?
“Because the minute you start going out and doing those top up shops, and saying ‘I’m just going to nip in there… that’s when you start leaking money.”
With that in mind, the super saver only spends money on her kid’s bus fare up until Thursday, when she can spend on other things if she still wants or needs them.
She even suggested extending it further and not spending money until the weekend once you get into the swing of things.
“It means if you’re on your lunch hour, not nipping out to a sandwich shop, not nipping out to a coffee shop.”
And when you do go shopping, think more practically about what you’re buying, even in cheaper shops.
Keen savers loved the idea and couldn’t wait to try it for themselves.
One wrote: “You’re really inspiring me and I’m going to stop buying clothes particularly until March.”
A second commented: “I’m definitely going to try this and generally try to spend less!”
