A CRUFTS-winning dog breeder whose “powerful” pet Belgian Malinois savaged a pal visiting her home has been jailed.

The raging beast, named Mako, tore into Natasha Turner’s leg leaving her screaming in agony.

Owner Margaret Peacock, 69, was also bitten by the dog as she wrestled it behind a gate during the savage attack in Farnborough, Hampshire.

Following the bloodbath, Peacock begged Natasha not to call the police because she was scared Mako would be put down.

The dog breeder also bought the victim, who suffered “significant” blood loss and permanent nerve damage, gifts.

She has now been jailed for two years and six months after she was convicted of being in charge of the dog while it was dangerously out of control.

Peacock was also banned from owning a dog in the future and fined £190.

Salisbury Crown Court heard how Natasha had visited Peacock’s home in February 2021 to do some DIY and see her own dog Bobo.

Mako was meant to be kept under control due to a contract Peacock had signed following two incidents in the past.

But the animal was “not behind a gate or obedient to Peacock’s demands” when Natasha came over.

Describing the horror, she said: “It happened really quick, when we realised it was going wrong I was scared because I didn’t think I was going to get the dog off between us.

“It was like someone had got a knife, put it in your leg and was tearing it through with a knife, that’s the only way I can describe it.

“I was screaming. I was crying my eyes out. It was really, really bad.”

Shocking photos show Natasha’s leg and shoe covered in blood after the dog sunk its teeth into her.

She was left needing plastic surgery for her injuries and says she is still in “constant pain”.

Natasha added: “To manage the pain I have been given medication to take three times a day. This impacts my mental health and makes me more depressed.

“I struggle to walk and drive. I’m exhausted all the time. The psychological impact is severe.”

Meanwhile, Peacock gave her money for petrol, online games, a £300 phone bill and a Bluetooth stereo to stop her going to the cops.

The breeder claimed Natasha had arrived injured at her front door after being attacked by another dog as she was scared Mako would be put down.

Mako was humanely destroyed in December last year.

One expert who visited her home after the attack said her animals behaved like “zoo animals”.

The consultant also described the conditions as “dangerous, barren, and filthy” with “waist high grass and dog faeces everywhere”.

Peacock was previously convicted in 2017 of killing a litter of nine puppies after a vet refused.

Shockingly, eight of the dogs were frozen to death in a freezer while the ninth was blasted in the head.

Judge Richard Parkes KC said: “You have shown no remorse and maintain even today that Miss Turner turned up at your door having already been bitten by a stray savage dog.

“I have no doubt you came up with that improbable story to prevent your dog from being destroyed.”
