FANS of The Chase have been left scratching their heads after a contestant revealed the odd item he hoped to buy with his winnings.

Ex copper Eric made the confession while chatting to the ITV1 game show’s host Bradley Walsh.

When asked what he would do if he won any cash, Eric explained that he is currently building a retirement villa in Italy.

But he then added: “I’d like a Japanese toilet.”

Looking completely baffled, Bradley replied: “Alright, let’s get you a Japanese toilet.

“I’ve had some very odd requests on the show but that’s…that’s one.”

Fans of The Chase were equally as confused, with one viewer asking on Twitter: “Dare I ask…what the hell is a Japanese toilet……….”

Another admitted: “Googling a Japanese toilet…”

And a third even quipped: “So this guy has gone on The Chase to win enough money for a Japanese f***ing toilet, have a word with yourself buddy!”

Japanese toilets are also referred to as a ‘smart toilet’.

Smart technology inside the loo means its user can operate it with a remote control.

Bathroom retailer The Big Bathroom Shop states on its website: “With a press of the button, you can flush, spray and dry.

“As the name suggests, Japanese toilets originated in Japan.”

Eric made it through to the Final Chase, however he was only joined by one other successful contestant – a lady called Nadine.

The pair failed to beat Chaser Darragh Ennis, meaning they did not scoop their £5,000 prize pot – and Eric did not get his Japanese toilet.
