I’m a female garbage collector – I live that ‘trash life,’ we have fun and you get used to the smell
A FEMALE garbage collector has admitted that sometimes her job stinks — literally.
Ashley (@ashley_the_great) proudly said she lives that “trash life” and likes her work, adding that sanitation workers get used to the smell.
She took to TikTok to share her daily life as a female garbage collector.
In one video, she showed how she drives around in a massive garbage truck.
She proudly referred to herself as a “workaholic” and “garbologist.”
“Garbology” is the academic term for the study of trash and technology related to it.
“We have the jobs no one really wants,” a fellow garbage collector wrote in the comment section.
“Good,” Ashley replied. “More trash for me.”
In another video, Ashley proudly showed off a typical hard-working day on the job.
She worked with two colleagues to empty trash receptacles in a neighborhood.
The trio posed at the end of the video, flexing for the camera and seemingly having a great time.
“Stop showing off his muscles you’re not even lifting up the cans,” one viewer wrote in the comment section.
“We all three laughed at ourselves because you can’t see muscles through the hoodies. Whatevs. We have fun,” Ashley quipped.
“The driver here in my town doesn’t get out of the truck,” another wrote. “The truck picks trash can up, dumps it, puts it back down.”
“We don’t have any of those at our site. If you check out my page I have a few videos of those trucks,” Ashley replied.
“Do you get used to the smell?” a third asked.
“Yes, definitely but now and again it’s stout,” Ashley said. “We get Louisville’s human s**t unloaded at our landfill. Those days are rough to dump.”
