But according to one whizz, who’s obsessed with all the finer things in life, some colours are better than others when doing your nails.

The guru, who posts under the username @oldmoneyguide, took to TikTok to list the top picks – is your favourite amongst them?

The elegance fan started the now-viral video with light pink/nude nails that almost matched the colour of the person’s skin.

If you’re more into the brighter hues, another option, the pro revealed, is a classic red – whether more vibrant or darker, red is your friend.

For those who want to add a little something-something to their manicure, the elegance guru advised sticking to red tips.

The main theme, however, was that all the examples were of relatively short nails following a natural shape.

Uploaded just a week ago, the video has already taken the social media platform by storm, racking up over a whopping 1.4million views.

Hundreds flocked to comments, where the appeared to be an intense debate.

Whilst some said that could never be them, others agreed with the recommendations.

One reckoned: ”Short nails are so much prettier and classier.”

Someone else added: ”Old money=perfect mani without any polish that does not spoil when gardening.

”I know. My aunt was an old money.”

A third chuckled: ”I was so glad when you showed the slightly longer nails.

”My fingers look like fat sausages when nails are short.”

”Not me sitting here with my electric blue nails,” a beauty fan hit back.

If you like many of us have chosen to do the nails yourself, keep on reading – there’s a 1p hack to make the old varnish as good as new.

Clare Hoops, 48, from the UK, took to TikTok to reveal the hack – not only is it almost free but also super easy, so if you’re about to treat yourself to a DIY mani, best keep reading.

The trick, it turns out, is using something that’s already sitting in your bathroom – nail polish remover.

”If you’ve got a nail varnish that is a little bit gloopy, just a little bit sticky, you take a tiny but of nail varnish remover,” she instructed her 64k fans in the video.

To make your polish easier to apply, simply pour a little bit of the remover into the glass bottle and give it a good shake.

”It won’t be quite the same as when you bought it but it will definitely make it a little bit easier to manage.

”It means you won’t waste it – it won’t be that thick, gloopy.

”Use it a little bit longer,” the savvy whizz urged her followers to reduce waste where possible.

Fellow social media users flocked to comments, where some shared their top remedies.

One person insisted: ”Putting it in the fridge helps too!”

”Adding clear nail polish helps!” penned another beauty fan.
