Dragons’ Den fans all say the same thing as single mum bags £50k investment for kids portable toilet
DRAGONS’ Den fans all said the same thing after a single mum bagged a £50k investment for a kids portable toilet.
Thursdays show saw Zoe Chapman enter Dragons’ Den to introduce the panel to her product, Whizzer.
Zoe immediately won viewers over as she opened up about her personal life and how she came to invent the product.
She said: “I work day and night, 16-18 hours a day, so I live and breathe the business.
“I’m a single mother, proud to be one. It’s just me and my son, he’s 10 now.
“When he was born, I was looking after my dad as well who sadly passed away.
“So I launch the product in his honour. I know he’d be proud of me. Everything is going into this, and I’m doing it all for my sons so I hope he’s proud as well.”
Zoe was asking for £50,000 for a 10 per cent stake in her business and explained to the Dragons how the difficulty potty training her son when he was younger had prompted her to invent the product.
She said: “I needed to find a product that was compact as a toilet that I could carry around for both of them.
“I searched but couldn’t find anything so I decided to invent my own.”
Zoe impressed with her business plan, and answered all the Dragons’ questions confidently.
Her personality and personal story won them over too, and in the end, she secured two Dragons.
Steven Bartlett and Sara Davies both put in £25,000 each for a combined 25 per cent share in the business.
And it looks like their investment could already be paying off, as viewers took to Twitter to say how much they needed one of the products in their lives.
One wrote: “Our three-year-old, newly potty trained boy, needs the Whizzer! What a product. Game changing.”
Another added: “I want a Whizzer pls.”
A third tweeted: “Bet they’re drowning in orders right now! Glad to get one. £0.99 shipping and 10% off for signing up from their own site saves commission being paid to Amazon etc. Whizzer crew.”
Meanwhile, others were just thrilled for Zoe after hearing her story and seeing how much it all meant to her.
One wrote: “First time #DragonsDen has caused a tear in my eye The #Whizzer is brilliant and so is the entrepreneur Phenomenal.”
Another added: “The Whizzer invention alone is quite impressive, but Zoë has impressed me so much more.”
A third tweeted: “What a lovely lady on #DragonsDen #Whizzer may all good things come your way.”
Dragons’ Den airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One.
