Top Gear in crisis as bosses slam the brakes on all filming after Freddie Flintoff crash
TOP Gear has been hit by fresh delays as host Freddie Flintoff recovers from a horror crash.
Producers have contacted contributors to tell them they do not know when filming will recommence.
It comes as dad-of-four Ashes legend Flintoff struggles back to fitness after a smash insiders say “could have killed him”.
He was recording at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey in December when the open-topped car he was driving flipped over.
Flintoff, 45, was airlifted to hospital with facial injuries and broken ribs but sources said he was “determined to resume his TV work at some point”.
The Beeb emailed contributors to say it had hoped to start filming new episodes this month.
The message adds: “However, we have now pushed filming back.
“We don’t have a date in mind at the moment.”
A source said: “Obviously Freddie’s health is the priority but everyone thought he’d be back on form by now.
“The show’s already been delayed once so for plans to slip again is a major headache in terms of scheduling and keeping contributors happy.
“The fear is that those who had signed up to work will not be able to make the new dates.”
