Cruel trolls mocked my lazy eye after I passed my driving test with flying colours…but I won’t let them stop me thriving

A WOMAN was told by cruel trolls to “stay off the road” because of her “lazy eye” after passing her driving test.

Elley Davies, from Pembrokeshire, Wales, was diagnosed with strabismus in her left eye when she was a child.

Strabismus, or a squint, is a condition where the eyes point in different directions.

It can occur at any age, but is particularly prominent for young children.

Elley is 80% blind in her left eye.

The 19-year-old model continues to live her life to the fullest, however, and recently aced her driving test.

She had been “dreaming” about the moment she could finally get behind the wheel for “so long”.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: “I passed my driving test on the 8th of February. Passing felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders, it’s something I’ve dreamed of for so long. So the thrill and freedom was unbelievable!

“I had a feeling I was going to pass as my instructor was honestly amazing at calming me down. From overthinking situations too much, and believing in myself was my only fault when it came to driving in lessons.

“My instructor knew I would pass, he always told me I was an amazing learner to teach and he knew I wanted this so bad.”

Despite passing with flying colours on her first attempt, Elley was subjected to cruel comments from social media trolls after announcing the news online.

Handling the atrocious criticism with grace and dignity, Elley asserted that while her insecurity is more visible, everyone suffers from them in some way, shape or form.

She continued: “When I passed I did a before and after test video, counting down the hours until the test and then the last clip was me holding the certificate.

“The video has over one million views, with people commenting ‘stay off the road’ or the usual eye joke comments and people asking how I can drive, just stupid questions and comments. There are also [comments] like ‘she turns left to go right’ and ‘bog eye’ – the same old comments.

“I’m okay with hate because there are people who just don’t understand what it’s like to have a visible insecurity, we all have them, mine just happens to be out on show, which makes them think they’ve got the advantage to judge.”
