Woman shares how she cleans her handrail… and it’s so gross you’ll question why we all shake hands at all
A CLEANING enthusiast has revealed she’s started questioning why people shake hands after seeing just how much dirt lives on handrails.
Tera Nelli, who describes herself as ‘Queen of Deep Clean’ on her TikTok account, shared a short video of herself cleaning the handrail to demonstrate her point.
After spraying the wood with disinfectant, she followed the liquid all the way down the staircase and zoomed into where it dripped onto a clean white cloth.
The cloth was covered with a brown, wet mark from where it dripped.
Tera then went over the handrail with another wipe before turning it around to show the dirt on it.
Over this, she wrote: “Everytime I am cleaning a handrail, I question why we all have to shake hands when we meet new people.” [sic]
“Please dont say im taking off varnish/ top layer,” [sic] she added in the caption.
“Idk about yall but i don’t shake nobody’s hand. And this is why. Stay away from me,” [sic] one person wrote in the comments section with a crying emoji.
Another shared: “I own a small cleaning company and I am always SHOCKED by how dirty those are!”
A third added: “this is exactly why my whole family washes our hands as soon as we come through the front door”. [sic]
Meanwhile, one person questioned: “How often are you cleaning handrails?” to which Tera explained that she does it “daily”.
And others couldn’t help but go against her instructions as they insisted she’s wiping the varnish off the wooden handrail.
One person argued: “No but genuinely it looks like you are taking off the varnish.”
Another said: “The varnish IS coming off. If it was obviously dirt it would be a blackish gray color, not a bright brown which is the varnish!”
As a third agreed: “that is definitely varnish because there is literal flakes of varnish on the rag”.
