Amanda Owen sparks concern with ‘horrendous’ day at Ravenseat as family battered by ‘dangerous gale force winds’
AMANDA Owen sparked concern after a ‘horrendous’ day at Ravenseat as her family were battered by ‘dangerous gale force winds’.
The Yorkshire Shepherdess and her nine children regularly face brutal weather conditions at their farm.
But even Amanda, 47, was taken aback by the snow and high winds that have battered parts of the UK in the past week.
Taking to Twitter, she shared videos of the water rushing down the river, while another showed one of her sheep being swept along in the fast flowing water as she helplessly watched on.
She also shared a snap of herself with her hood up and woolly hat underneath as she dealt with a hay bale.
She captioned her post: “Yesterday was horrendous. Sleet & snow thawing made for serious flooding & dangerous situations whilst trying to fodder the sheep.
“They stayed on low lying ground as gale force winds blew on tops but this was scary.
“You do your best but we were lucky that there were no casualties.”
Amanda’s fans were quick to comment, with one writing: “Thank God no casualties! Stay safe!”
Another added: “That third video is probably only a snippet of what you have to contend with on days like that! Hope you’re all ok thank god it’s a lot calmer today keep safe xx.”
A third tweeted: “Such scary conditions! So glad the ewe made it out of the water X.”
Meanwhile a fourth commented: “Oh wow some of us have no idea what you have to endure. Thank you for sharing your story.
“I love to see the happy side of farming but good to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that is needed. Take care.”
