BBC forced to apologise after presenter makes huge on-camera blunder
THE BBC have been forced to apologise after a presenter made a huge on-camera blunder in How To Crack The Class Ceiling.
Viewers of the programme hit out at Radio 4 host Amol Rajan after noticing the star missed out on a vital safety feature.
Amol, 39, was filmed being driven around in the back of the taxi in what appeared to be central London as part of the show.
However, fans were left furious after noticing that the presenter wasn’t wearing his seatbelt during the scenes.
The safety feature could be seen behind him, instead of over his chest and shoulder as they filmed for the BBC programme.
Failing to wear a seatbelt can carry a potential fine of up to £500, with exemptions failing to apply for the TV star.
The BBC were forced to apologise for the mistake, penning a statement noting it was “against the law”.
“In the course of making this programme the presenter was filmed travelling by cab without using a seatbelt,” the statement read.
It comes just weeks after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak faced a SECOND probe from cops after he also was filmed without a seatbelt on.
Lancashire Police confirmed it was “looking into” the possibility an offence was committed as he sat in the car without the belt.
The PM posted a rule-breaking video on his Instagram account en route to his levelling up announcement in Morecambe today.
This evening Downing Street admitted he made a “brief error of judgement” by removing the safety device for a video for his social media accounts to promote the new Levelling Up funds.
A No10 spokesman said Mr Sunak “fully accepts this was a mistake and apologises” and encouraged others to wear a seatbelt.
They added: “The Prime Minister believes everyone should wear a seatbelt.
“It was an error of judgment, he removed it for a short period of time to film a clip, which you’ve seen, but he accepts that was a mistake.”
Brits face a fine of up to £500 for not wearing a seat belt in a car when one is available.
