Love Island’s Lucinda signs up to run half Marathon for good cause – despite ‘not being a runner’
FORMER reality TV star Lucinda Strafford has signed up to run in a half Marathon.
The Love Island personality will take part in the highly publicised charity race, despite not being ‘a good runner’.
Lucinda, 21, first rose to prominence when she competed in the seventh series of the hit daring show.
But in her new venture, she has chosen to run the Reading Half Marathon on 2nd April.
She has never run a Marathon before but will aim to raise funds and awareness of the mental health charity, MIND.
The star has been signed up by Unleashed Performance who specialise in nutritional products.
In an aim to raise funds on the popular JustGiving donation page, she wrote a long letter to her fans.
She said: “Coming out of Love Island can be tough, you’re walking into a Lion’s Den of trolls and opinions on yourself. Unfortunately when I came out of Love Island, I had my fair share of these nasty opinions.
“If it wasn’t for the thick skin I have always been brought up to have, I could have easily spiralled.
“Sadly, we have lost very loved TV personalities due to mental health with some being from Love Island, so I want to raise awareness for how important the support for mental health is, and to educate people on how nasty opinions and trolling can have serious consequences.
“These comments may mean absolutely nothing to these anonymous accounts, but could mean a lifetime to the person who receives them. This is why I have chosen to run for MIND charity.”
“The charity MIND provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
“They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding, and they encourage mental health as an everyday priority.
“This is something I will always strongly stand by, and I hope you all do too.”
