Woman transforms her garden into luxe Bali-style backyard on a budget – but everyone is asking the same questions

A DIY fan has revealed how she transformed her bog-standard garden into a Bali-style haven on the cheap.

With the warmer weather finally here, most of us have spent the last few months getting our backyards Summer ready.

Jasmine wasn’t willing to fork out £16k on a Bali-style terrace for her garden so decided to make her own

But rather than giving her garden a quick jet wash, Jasmine decided she wanted to give it a Bali-style makeover.

Although after realising the concrete outdoor sofa she’d hoped for would set her back a whopping £16k, she decided to make one of her own – and even installed a posh-looking pergola too.

She said: “Everybody that knows me knows how much I love Bali, and I love their decor and aesthetic.

“And unfortunately, I can’t live there right now.

“So I wanted to bring a little piece of Bali to the backyard.

“Everything I kept finding that looked like Bali was $20,000 (£15.7k) for the concrete couch.

“So I convinced my husband to let me build something that looks like Bali, and this is kind of what it came out like.”

During the 19-second reel, Jasmine shares a glimpse at how she built their pergola and concrete outdoor couch from scratch.

The pair started with the decking that would act as the base of their pergola.

Using wooden battens, Jasmin laid out their desired rectangular shape, before covering it in horizontal decking panels.

They added a black aluminum pergola over the top, before moving on to build their concrete outdoor sofa.

The DIY pros built a structure out of the same wooden battens, before covering it in concrete.

Jasmin then finished off their new outdoor space with some rattan cushions, and a willow fence screen for some extra privacy.

Below the video, she added: “Obsessed with our backyard makeover turned out.

“Every time I go to Bali I just love the concrete mixed with bamboo and that what I did here.

“Still need a few more things for It to be completed but super happy with how it’s looking.”

She also confirmed that the entire renovation cost them around £4,000.

Shoppers can pick up similar-style wooden battens from various retailers, including Wickes, for as little as £4.

Quick set concrete is also available to buy online, with B&Q selling a 20kg bag for just £10.12.

Fans loved her budget makeover, with the transformation gaining more than 16,800 likes and 364,300 views.

Known online as @jasminedustin, the content creator regularly shares fashion, travel, and home transformation ideas with her 12,800 followers.

In the comments, TikTokkers shared their reactions, with one writing: “Wow obsessed!”

“Y’all did an amazing job. I worry if I try this I’m going to end up with a strange concert art structure in my yard,” shared another.

A third put: “Absolutely gorgeous goooood job babe.”

Although not all were convinced, with many questioning how comfortable her new outdoor seating actually is.

Another added: “Looks good but doubt that’s very comfy.”

Someone else replied: “It’s in the shade stop hating throw some pillows and a blanket maybe a fireplace that s*** would be lit.”

“Does the concrete get really hot?,” quizzed another.

Jasmine responded: “Nope! And it doesn’t look comfortable but it really is.”
