IT’S one of the most popular cocktails around – but do you know the right way to drink a Pornstar Martini?
The passion fruit flavoured alcoholic drink is served with a prosecco shot side that has confused cocktail lovers for years.
While many opt to finish their drink and then sip on the prosecco, others choose to pour it into the martini glass and mix it around with their chosen beverage.
But now an expert in the field has settled the debate on what you should be doing with it – plus why the prosecco is there in the first place.
Speaking about the popular cocktail that’s made up of passionfruit, vanilla vodka and citrus, Abby Matthews, who is Director of The Cocktail Co, went into its unique flavourings.
She explained to Lad Bible: “A pornstar martini is the perfect combination of passionfruit, vanilla, vodka and citrus, so it has a very sweet yet tangy flavour.
“It is served best with a prosecco chaser and garnished with half a passionfruit.”
Abby then pointed out that a “chaser” drink can be drunk before or after the main event.
She went on to say: “It’s usually a milder drink that is designed to freshen the palette.”
However, with a pornstar, there’s a very important time to slurp on it – and it’s not when you might have thought.
Abby revealed: “Little do people know, the prosecco shot should actually be sipped before drinking the pornstar martini, to cleanse the palette before enjoying the cocktail.”
She then concluded: “If you’ve been shotting the prosecco before, after, or even pouring it in – you’re doing it wrong!”
Lifting the lid on how this could actually be ruining your taste experience, Abby delved deeper into her explanation.
She concluded: “Pouring the prosecco can actually ruin the flavours.
“It alters the taste as it unbalances how the ingredients complement each other.”

“And drinking it after – well, who’d want to cleanse their palette after such a delicious drink?”
Ever since Abby’s comments, cocktail lovers have been reacting to the news – with many realising they’ve been drinking it wrong all along.
One person wrote on Facebook: “Here you go, you need to sip it before you sip the cocktail apparently.”
A second social media user added: “I thought, pour prosecco over the fruit?! Flavour releasing?”
While a third quipped: “Seeing that we’ve been doing it wrong all this time.
“I think we need to bring back our cocktail Wednesdays again so we can do it the right way.”
