Instead, the BBC have promptly added the upcoming episodes directly to iPlayer, inadvertently revealing the cliffhanger.

One user wrote: “It’s a shame that they’re adding some to iplayer. It’s fun following shows like this live, without spoilers.”

Another added: “As much as I want to see it IMMEDIATELY I enjoy the watchalongs.”

A third penned: “The conversation is half the fun.”

The hit reality show returned for its second series last night – with Claudia Winkleman joined by a new cast for another season of twists, turns and betrayal.

The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in ‘the ultimate game of truth and deception’ with a chance to win a cash prize of £120,000.

Viewers have noted a new twist after watching the first episode.

They were surprised to witness numerous cast members expressing their desire to be a Traitor, a notable contrast to the first series where BBC1 fans believed that not as many hoped to be selected by host Claudia.

One took to social media to point out: “Interesting how many of them ‘want’ to be a Traitor this time round – (reckon they don’t know what they might be in for this time round tho!)”

A second agreed stating: “Damn everyone wants to be a traitor this season??”
