In the posted clip, David said: “Hello David Tennant Here, You maybe surprised to see me pop up on BAFTA’s social media feed.
“I know I am, but here is the big surprise. I am the host for the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024.
“Yes, what an honour. How exciting to be celebrating this amazing year of film and some of the incredible individuals who’ve helped make those films…”
The Scottish Native will be presenting the ceremony on February 18 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Richard E. Grant and Rebel Wilson fronted the awards show in 2023 and 2022.
Speaking on picking the Good Omens actor as this year’s host, BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said: “We are over the moon that David Tennant will be our host for the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards.
“He is deservedly beloved by British and international audiences alike. His warmth, charm and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show next month for our guests at the Royal Festival Hall and the millions of people watching at home.”

The news of David becoming the host for this year’s BAFTA awards comes after he reappeared as the star of the show in Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary series specials last November alongside Catherine Tate.
Currently, the Broadchurch star has been performing in Macbeth at the Donmar Warehouse in London, but fans of the theatre show have been issued with trigger warnings about postnatal depression in a new production.
They were also informed that the famously violent Shakespeare epic featured blood and death.
David will be starring as Macbeth, a protagonist driven to murder by a string of prophecies in the Bard’s play, written in 1606.
Guidance from London’s Donmar Warehouse warned: “This production explores psychosis and contains suggestions of post-combat and postnatal mental health concerns.
“On stage, there is blood, scenes of violence and depictions of death.”
The production started on December 8, and the final performance will occur on February 10.
The Bafta Film Awards will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
