People say wedding guest looks like she’s ‘popping to the grocery store’ in her dress, and that’s not their only issue
A WEDDING guest has been called out by people on Reddit after she asked if her dress was appropriate to wear to the nuptials.
Social media users said she looked like she was ready to shop for groceries instead of attending a formal event.

An anonymous Reddit user asked subscribers on the Wedding Attire Approval forum if her dress was “okay.”
Hundreds of people took notice, with the post garnering 229 upvotes and 135 responses.
The wedding guest wore a short long-sleeved sundress. It was black with flowers and a scooped neckline.
She blurred out her face for privacy.
“No dress code! I’m worried it’s too black, I’ve always heard don’t wear white or black to weddings but my options were pretty limited,” she wrote.
The top response was from a person who said the dress was too casual.
“It’s not too black at all, but it IS very casual,” the user wrote.
“Honestly I’d wear this with some slides to the grocery store in the summer,” the Redditor added. “It’s that casual.”
A second person agreed that the ensemble was too laid back.
“I think this is too casual for a wedding unless you have been told that it’s a backyard ‘come as you are’ sort of scenario,” he or she posted.
Other people said the dress wasn’t long enough.
“It’s fine color-wise, but a little on the short side,” a third remarked. “Try to counter the shortness of it by wearing black tights and dressy black shoes.”
“This is WAAAAY too short for anything but the most casual dress code,” a fourth added.
Others noticed that the guest’s bra was sticking out of the dress.
“I see the nursing bra. I know how tough it is to return to a life with events like this but maybe treat yourself and find something you feel really cute in,” a fifth shared.
The original poster thanked everyone for their feedback.
She said she would wear a different bra for the big day, and that she would wear black leggings and black heels, as recommended.
“I have an exclusively breastfed baby so I needed something with the ability to feed him while wearing it,” she said.
The guest reached out to the bride, who confirmed the casual dress was appropriate for her wedding.
“Since posting this I have gotten approval from the bride and she loves the dress,” the original poster finished.
Etiquette-wise, it’s okay to wear a short dress to a wedding as long as you don’t overshadow the bride or the groom, Awesome Bridal said.
There are also some things to avoid.
Don’t wear “sheer and transparent materials, animal prints or bold graphics, and plain cotton garments that give off a tacky look,” they wrote.
