BBC Breakfast fans are used to seeing Charlie Stay, 60, hosting the show at the weekend alongside Naga Munchetty, 47.
Since making his debut back in 2006, Charlie is a regular on the red sofa, hosting the news programme from Thursday to Saturday.
But fans hoping to kick off their weekend with the popular presenter got a shock when another face was seen hosting the show instead.
Filling in for Charlie is journalist Ben Thompson.
He joined the BBC Breakfast team in 2012, and often covers at the weekend when the main presenters are off.
The presenter, from Burnley, has had an impressive career – spanning over two decades – within the iconic broadcasting company.
Ben is also known for co-hosting Business Live, the BBC’s daily business programme.
Meanwhile, BBC Breakfast launched their brand new extended shows this week in a schedule shake-up.
The programme now airs from 6am and runs until 9:30am, before handing over to Morning Live.
Breakfast presenter Jon Kay, 54, revealed the shock news on X – formerly Twitter this evening, much to the surprise of fans.
He wrote, “It’s a big week for the #BBCBreakfast team. From now on, the programme will be 15 minutes longer Mon-Fri.
“Then at 0930 our friends and neighbours @BBCMorningLive take over – and their show has been extended, too! The UK’s two biggest morning shows just got BIGGER!”
Breakfast was previously broadcast from 6:00am to 9:15am, with Morning Live airing for 45 minutes until 10:00am.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
