I’m in my 30s and have embraced my natural grey hair – haters say it adds 10 years and I should dye it but I don’t care
A WOMAN in her thirties has shared that she has decided to embrace her natural hair and go fully grey.
Lori Severidt shared her grey hair journey through a video posted to her TikTok channel @loriseveridt.
The caption to Lori’s video reads: “One of the things I’ll always remember about 2023 is, it was the year I decided to stop colouring my roots and embraced the beautiful silver strands that I’ve been covering for 12+ years.
“Almost a full year since my last colour and I’m getting more and more compliments on it! I hardly ever have patience for much especially when it comes to my hair, this journey has taught me the wait is so worth it and there’s beauty in the waiting and the process!”
In the video, the 38-year-old shared clips of her hair growing out slowly, with her hair becoming more and more grey over time.
In the clips, Lori looks confident and happy, suggesting she’s not bothered about the stigma attached to going grey.
Many people start going grey in their 20s and 30s but most choose to cover this up with hair dye.
In another video, the grey haired beauty shared more pictures of her rocking her natural locks.
The caption to this video reads: “In a society where we’re told grey hair = old, let’s change that narrative and forget any “rules” about ageing.
“Ageing looks different for every one. I feel like for men who go grey, they’re told it’s distinguished and handsome, but for women you’re told you’re letting yourself go and you look old.
“I’m here to prove that narrative wrong…who’s going to join me?”
TikTok users have flooded the comments sections of Lori’s videos to share their thoughts one Lori’s hair, with some haters suggesting her natural hair ages her.
One person said: “Nahhhhh what’s the point of looking so old when its so easy to cover it…”
Another user said: “Adds on a good 10 years, stylist here”.
However, many people praised Lori for embracing her natural beauty.
One user said: “Some of these comments did not pass the vibe check, I think you look fabulous with your silver hair!”
Another added: “Full grey hair is lush! When mine starts going grey I will embrace it.”
