24 Hours in Police Custody viewers ‘heartbroken’ for forgotten ‘victim’ of ‘horrific’ double murder
VIEWERS of 24 Hours in Police Custody were left ‘heartbroken’ for the daughter of a convicted murderer after it was revealed she has been placed in foster care as a result of her father’s wicked crimes.
The Channel 4 programme explored the case of a double murder in which Anthony Bennison and Nicholas Papworth mowed down and stabbed Adam Fanelli, 39, and Patrick Howard, 27, after a petty row.

In scenes aired during the second episode of a two-parter focused on the crime, Nicholas Papworth had to make the decision to place his teenage daughter into foster care.
He told the members of the Bedfordshire Police force that he had sole care of his daughter and that there was no other family members or relatives who were sufficient enough to look after her or take her in.
Papworth was able to make a call to his daughter to give his consent to, and tell her, about the foster arrangement that had been put in place.
He was forced to make the choice after the police force were granted an additional 12 hours to question him about the horrific crimes.
The officer at the custody desk told him: “You have to give your verbal consent for her to be placed in foster care.”
Papworth was then heard pleading with the officer that he “want[ed] her back,” during the emotionally-charged moment.
During the phone call, Papworth was heard asking his daughter about her day at school before informing her what was going to happen next.
Having confirmed the fostering arrangement with her, Papworth said down the phone: “Are you okay with that? That’s the best option for now.”
He then said: “I love you so much, I’ll see you soon, okay?”
It left viewers on tears heartbroken at the fact his daughter was now facing an incredibly different upbringing and future as a result of his own senseless acts of violence.
Writing on X, one said: “You’d have to have a heart of stone to not feel for the kid, I have no sympathy for the suspect.”
Another echoed: “His poor child now has to face the consequences of his actions, selfish.”
Before a third wrote: “His poor daughter! She’s innocent but it affects her so much.”
As a fourth added: “Feel for his daughter. The damage and the upset.”
The two-part special reveals how officers untangled a web of “carnage” after the double killing in November 2022.
Police had originally been called to a report of a hit-and-run but were instead met by a “scene of utter devastation”.
The horror first unfolded inside The Crown pub where a baby shower was taking place but soon spilled out onto the streets.
After Mason and Patrick left, Bennison jumped in his car and drove around erratically until he caught up with the pair.
He then repeatedly rammed his vehicle at them – causing innocent victim Adam to venture outside and see what the noise was.
The dad-of-four, who had told his mum he would be “back in a minute”, found Patrick and Mason sheltering in an alley.
Bennison meanwhile had headed back to the pub to collect Papworth so they could drive in a murderous convoy to hunt out the pair.
Once they caught them, the raging killers ploughed into the three men before Bennison knifed Adam in the chest twice.
He then stabbed Mason eight times before plunging the blade into Patrick’s neck – instantly paralysing him.
As Mason attempted to help his stricken pal, Papworth drove directly at them.
Patrick, who was unable to move, was pulled underneath the car and dragged for a short distance.
Papworth and Bennison were convicted of 12 offences in total, including murder and attempted murder.
They were both jailed for life last August with a minimum of 34 years and 38 years respectively.
