EastEnders heartbreak as Walford mourns death of legendary resident in heart-wrenching scenes

THERE’S been further heartbreak in Walford as one family mourned the death of a legendary resident in heart-wrenching scenes.

Albert Square has been full of drama in recent weeks – particularly after Keanu Taylor’s murder on Christmas Day.

In tonight’s episode, five of the members of ‘The Six’ concealed the body further into the ground in the burned out cafe.

Meanwhile over at the Vic, other Walford residents had no idea what was happening.

The Mitchell family were enjoying a drink at the pub, but after Phil took a phone call, he looked serious as he sat back down.

Ben asked his dad if he was alright and he replied: “Yeah, it’s aunt Sal.”

Phil’s sister Sam replied: “Oh yeah, who’s she upset this time?”

Honey said: “Me for starters. This Christmas we had a Christmas card saying ‘To Billy and the rest’.

“I mean do you think it would actually kill her to at least remember our names?”

As everyone laughed, Sam asked what she wanted and Phil replied: “She er…she’s dead.”

Later, Phil looked through old photos with Kat and Ben and said: “She was a tough old bird, I’ll tell you that for nothing.”

They then recalled the time Aunt Sal shouted out at Aunt Glenda during Roxy and Ronnie’s funeral.

Sam then entered revealing the funeral would be Monday.

EastEnders fans took to X – formerly Twitter – to discuss the departure of the character, who was played by Anna Karen on and off from 1996 until her final on-screen appearance in January 2017.

One wrote: “So Aunt Sal’s death is announced on #eastenders is announced tonight. What a character she was,that dinner party scene is a classic. #annakaren was an amazing actress.”

Another tweeted: “What if the six re-bury Keanu by dumping his body in the graveplot of Aunt Sal ? Dunno just the six storyline continuing and Aunt Sal’s funeral being next week and the six having to move Keanu. And Danny being there for filming (i just thought a red-herring till now).”
