LOVE Island legend Liberty Poole has revealed how she REALLY feels about ‘gaslighting’ ex Jake Cornish ahead of their All Stars reunion.
Jake was famously branded a ‘gaslighter’ and a ‘narcissist’ after romancing Liberty on the 2021 series.
They were an item from the beginning, but after weeks in the villa, he hinted he wasn’t really attracted to her, devastating Liberty and prompting her to quit the villa just before the finale.
Three years on, the pair are set to come face to face again for the first time on Monday night’s big launch show.
Speaking to The Sun before heading into the villa, Liberty – who is currently unaware Jake is joining her on the show – shared her true feelings about her controversial ex.
Asked how she would feel about seeing him, Liberty revealed: ” The last person that I officially had as a boyfriend was obviously Jake. That was over two years ago now and I haven’t really seen him since.
“The only time I saw him was a couple of months after the show at my friend Lucinda Strafford’s birthday party, but then nothing since. So it’s been a very, very long time for me.”
She continued: “There’s no bad blood there and I’ve dated other people since him. I guess you don’t know how you’re going to react when you’re in that situation, but it’s nothing but good vibes.
“I don’t regret what happened the first time round. I think we ended because there was an incompatibility there. And so if we happen to be in there together, I definitely don’t want to take away from his experience and I don’t want him to take away from my experience.”
“And so I hope Jake finds love and I’m going to focus on finding love, but I’m going in there and hopefully, yeah, there’s new people
now to speak with.”
So there is no chance of the pair rekindling their old flame?
“No, I don’t think so,” Liberty said, shaking her head. “People change. People grow up, like I’ve matured and stuff.
“But I think we ended for reasons at the time that was based on incompatibility, so I wouldn’t really focus on rekindling with him when I could build a really nice long lasting connection with someone else.”
And Liberty insists that if she does see Jake building a connection in the All Stars villa, she won’t have any words of warning for his potential new love match.
“If a girl likes him and they’re getting on and they’re really happy, then that’s great for them. I’m not going to interfere with that,” she insists.
Liberty was praised by fans for her ‘girl power’ move when she self-evicted from the villa, refusing to settle for less in her relationship.
Would she consider walking for a second time if she doesn’t find what she is looking for?
“I think it depends how far we are in the process,” she said. “Bombshells come in and you might hit off with them, but I definitely would say that I’m not gonna take leave anything to chance and I’m in there to find love.
“If it doesn’t happen, I’m OK with that. I don’t want to put pressure or expectations on myself.”
