Emmy Awards 2024 LIVE — Elton John achieves EGOT status with huge win but shocks fans with absence

ELTON John has become the 19th person to win an EGOT.

Elton has officially won all four Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, otherwise known as an EGOT, after Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium took home the award for best variety special (live) at tonight’s 75th Emmy Awards ceremony.

However, viewers were stunned to realize that the legendary singer wasn’t at the event to accept the award.

“Elton John just achieved EGOT status and WASNT EVEN THERE,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“It’s a very funny power move to not even be there to accept the award completing your egot but if anyone can pull it off it’s elton john,” another noted.

Anthony Anderson is hosting tonight’s ceremony, broadcast live on Fox, after it was delayed for nearly five months due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
