My 16p beauty hack will give you an instant ‘facelift’ and leave your skin glowing – it’s ‘nature’s version of Botox’
FROM cosmetic surgery to luxurious skincare, people fork out thousands in a bid to try and turn back the time.
But according to one woman named Kali, there’s no need to splash the cash on anti-ageing products, as she’s found “nature’s version of Botox” – and it costs just 16p.

In a clip shared to TikTok (@kalithompson), the beauty fan can be seen rubbing the inside of a banana peel over her skin.
“A few months ago I started rubbing banana peels on my face every day and I swear it’s made my skin glow more,” she says.
“I saw this woman on here and she said it’s nature’s Botox and that it has enzymes in it and exfoliates your face.
“My skin has been so much more glowy…I do it every morning….whatever I’m doing, it’s working!”
She concludes: “But honestly, try it – stick with it for a couple of months and you’re going to look like you’ve had an instant facelift.”
The post has since gone viral, racking up over 54k views and several comments from beauty fans.
“Lush use banana in their face masks so I’m here for this,” wrote one.
A second penned: “Obsessed.”
A third commented: “Might just whip a banana out and rub it on my face.”
And Kali isn’t the first person to suggest using banana skin as part of your skincare regime.
Fabulous previously told how a woman in her 40s looks 20 thanks to the same ‘natural’ alternative to Botox.
Kate, who is 42 and often shares anti-ageing tips and tricks online, said: “This is a great exfoliator.
“It’s brilliant for moisturising the skin and it’s got enzymes in it which are really natures botox, so this is brilliant for fine lines and wrinkles.”
Kate went onto explain that she leaves the banana skin residue on her face for 10-15 minutes before rubbing it off.
She also noted that you can freeze the skins before putting them on to your face, which she added “feels amazing”.
In a recent Today article, dermatologists backed the anti-ageing benefits of bananas when using their empty peels on your skin.
While there’s no scientific evidence to prove the skincare effects of this fruit, Chicago-based dermatologist Dr. Jordan Carqueville and Texas-based Dr. Adeline Kikam shared their expertise on the benefits.
Dr. Kikam explains the tannins of the banana are similar to those used in different skincare products for tightening and toning purposes – adding that they’re also known to help diminish under-eye bags and brighten them.
“You can actually find bananas listed as an ingredient in some skin care products, Kikam said, because they’re rich in good-for-the-skin phytochemicals and vitamin A,” the article explains.
Paraphrasing Dr. Carqueville’s thoughts, the article says: “By leaving the peels on the skin for an extended period it could potentially ‘occlude’ the skin, essentially sealing moisture in.”
