I thought I had a cute office outfit but got shamed for ‘looking like a stripper,’ I had to take a minute to calm down
WHETHER it’s business casual or just straight-up casual, every office has some form of a dress code.
One corporate employee was left shocked by the response her outfit received at work.
In her video, Katie (@kathlean08) filmed her immediate reaction after one of her co-workers commented on her look.
The TikToker revealed that her colleague suggested that her dress looked like something a stripper would wear.
“Taking a serenity moment after someone told me I could really work the pole in my outfit,” Katie wrote in the clip.
She showed her audience the offending outfit, which consisted of a navy pinstriped pinafore dress layered over a white long-sleeve top.
To calm down, Katie took a break in the stairwell of her office building.
She previously shared a clip of her wearing the same outfit to her workplace, showing that it hadn’t been an issue before.
Katie poked fun at the situation by participating in a viral TikTok trend.
She lip-synced to Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten, which peaked in the charts almost 20 years after its initial release after its use in the rom-com Anyone But You.
In the film, one of the main characters refers to the 2004 hit as his “serenity song.”
Social media users have been playing the song as they share scenarios where they have had to keep their cool.
Katie even held her camera above her head to give her viewers a full-length shot as she sang along.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the situation.
One unimpressed viewer suggested Katie’s co-worker needed a “muzzle.”
“I like your sound choice and your outfit,” wrote another one of Katie’s followers.
