I kicked my mother-in-law out of the labor room over her question to my nurse, it was a huge betrayal of trust

A NEW mom has experienced the ultimate betrayal of trust that has left her reeling.

She discovered her mother-in-law was asking her nurse inappropriate questions in the birthing suite.

This lady was so shocked by MIL’s level of insensitivity and interference, that she could bear it no more.

Despite just having given birth, she had to summon every last shred of energy to kick her out of the labor room.

She felt she had no choice but now she is questioning her actions.

“Am I the a**hole,” she asked Redditors in her post.

Universally, they gave her their backing all the way and sent MIL packing.

She laid out her sorry tale, and it wasn’t pretty.

“I gave birth to my son last week. My husband and I agreed to name him after my father.

“My father passed away when I was 14 and we were very close.”

Unfortunately, her MIL had forceful views and she didn’t care who heard.

“My MIL is very opinionated about everything. She has been giving us her opinion on everything for our son.”

On the day she was due to give birth, she wanted her husband there and no one else.

But, out of the blue and with no invitation, MIL turns up.

“She was babbling on about the baby’s name, feeding schedules, etc. I kept it together as best as I could.”

But worse was to come: “After my son was born, MIL was trying to talk my husband into convincing me to change his name.

“She asked the nurses if she could legally change his name. She even went as far as to accuse me of controlling my husband into our son’s name.”

Enough was enough, and, at a moment that should have been serene and blissful, this young mom exploded.

“I yelled at her to get out of the room and we will not be changing the name.

“She left and has been telling family members a different story.”

Her husband has stuck up for her and told her that nothing will be changed.

Nonetheless, she has faced a torrent of abuse from extended family members and MIL has even called her an a**hole.

“Was I right for kicking her out,” she asked Redditors.

There was only one a**hole here, they all said, and it is not YOU.

Commenters’ thoughts will have given her some reassurance.

“You’re not the a**hole,” said one person. “Good for your hubby for sticking up for you during the entire process and situation.

“She crossed a line by coming into the room while you were having your child. And if she continues to push, going no contact would be the best for all involved.”

A second person wrote: “Oh hell no! She had her chance to name the kid when she had her own. She doesn’t have naming rights to your child(ren). If she doesn’t like it, she can suck a lemon.”

It was a sentiment shared by this person: “Barging into the delivery room where you are unwanted is already a huge an a**hole move.

“Barging in and demanding to change the baby’s name, and even asking the nurses how she can do this legally?? Wow. I just… wow.”

This Redditor was breathless: “Holy sh*t Batman, she needs to relocate to a dumpster ASAP because she’s trash.”

And this person said keep those barriers up.

“Keep her on the curb and out of your yard, even if you have to put up all the fences, screen them, and seal them against drafts. MIL doesn’t decide sh*t about your child: you and your husband do.”
