WITH Easter on the horizon we have rounded up all of the cheapest places to pick up a pack of hot cross buns this week.

It might only be January but most of the shops have already started bringing out their ranges for this year.

Whether you whack them in the freezer to keep until the spring or fancy a tasty treat, it could be a good time to stock up.

We checked how much several big supermarket chains are selling a six-pack of their own-brand hot cross buns for, including Aldi and Tesco.

The cheapest cost is just 99p for a pack, while the priciest are £1.40 for people not signed up to the shops’ loyalty scheme.

We also had a look at the most premium hot cross buns and compared those costs too.

You could save a cool 75p by shopping at the cheapest compared to the most expensive.

You can compare prices on websites like Google shopping and Trolley.co.uk – which compares the prices of 130,000 products across 14 major supermarkets.

The Latest Deals app also lets you search items and lets you compare prices at several supermarkets to see where it’s cheaper.

Of course make sure to have a look across all the chains on the day you’re shopping in case better deals pop up.

You can find your local branch of your chosen supermarket on their websites.

Below we’ve rounded up the cheapest shops and any deals they might have on this week.

Cheapest shop to buy hot cross buns this week

Unsurprisingly, discounter giant Aldi is currently the cheapest shop to bag a pack of buns.

Its Village Bakery Hot Cross Buns cost just 99p for six, working out at 17p a bun.

Tying Aldi in joint first place is Sainsbury’s – but only if you have a Nectar card.

The supermarket is charging £1.40 for all shoppers and just £1 for its loyalty scheme members.

Its member price puts a singular bun at 17p as well, but without a handy Nectar card, you’d be looking at 23p a bun.

In joint second place is Ocado, Asda and Tesco which are all charging £1.15 for a pack of six.

This puts the price of a bun at 19p each.

Morrisons didn’t have a six-pack in its range, but they may come out with more options as we get closer to Easter.

Cheapest shop to buy fancier hot cross buns this week

It’s important to note that most of the retailers do have pricier ranges too.

The cheapest luxury range is Aldi again with its Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns.

These cost £1.35 for a pack of four or 34p each.

Narrowly in second place is Asda with its Extra Special Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns four-pack for £1.40 – or 35p per bun.

Next up is Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Fruity Hot Cross Buns (four pack) for £1.50 – which works out at 38p a bun.

Similarly, Tesco’s Finest Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns four-pack is £1.60 a pack or 40p each.

Although, it also has a Clubcard deal on for two for £2.50 – which would give you eight and cost 31p each.

But you’ll need to make sure you have a Clubcard and that you fancy two packs instead of one.

Morrisons is only selling a pack of four in its “the Best” range so far this year.

These cost £1.59 or 40p per bun.

At the other end of the scale, M&S’s Luxury Hot Cross Buns come in a four-pack too and cost £2.10 or 53p each.

Meanwhile, shoppers have been flocking to Tesco for “luscious” hot cross buns which are already on the shelves this year and they have a classic twist

Plus, to get you in the spirit, last Easter we tested all the supermarket hot cross buns to see which tastes the best – the winner beats M&S
