I got the viral $600 Ugg ‘candy corn’ boots – I was annoyed before even trying them on, they’re a natural disaster
A FASHIONISTA pushed the boundaries of footwear recently when she tried styling a viral pair of Ugg boots.
The footwear brand is known for its stylish and comfortable sheepskin-lined boots – but she felt their latest offering was beyond the pale.
Fashion influencer Madeleine White (@madeleine_white) was prompted to try on Ugg’s new boots after discovering them online.
She was shocked at the boot’s unusual and colorful design, a departure from the brand’s regular shoes.
The boots were thigh-high and feature four zippered, fleece-lined sections atop a regular brown ultra mini boot, in shades of orange, yellow, brown, and white.
They were also available in an all-black version.
Called the women’s classic ultra ultra tall, they were available for $419.99, down from $600, from Ugg.
The striking colors and tall design of the boots meant they made a statement when worn.
Influencer Madeleine was shocked by the boots.
“I’m already mad,” she said, after appearing on camera with the shoes in their box.
“I’m angry and I haven’t even opened the box.”
Her first reaction is to ask why Ugg felt the need to make the boot “a rainbow.”
“I feel as though I would be a lot less annoyed if the whole boot was just the tan color,” she said.
She felt this might have made the boot more wearable.
The fashion lover tried the boots on over a pair of sweatpants and said “Oh wow,” when she discovered that each of the colored sections zipped away.
Madeleine attempted to create an outfit that she liked featuring the boots but found it tricky to make them work with her style.
She paired the tall, fleece-lined boots first with a black skirt and then with blue denim jeans, both of which she disliked.
“It looks terrible,” she said.
After styling the boots with a pair of white jeans and a cropped orange sweater, Madeline said that she “wasn’t deeply offended,” by the outfit she created.
She added a long white wool coat, a tan bag, and a pair of black sunglasses to the outfit.
“I guess this looks okay if I squint,” she said jokingly.
“I’m feeling shocked and appalled.”
At the end of the clip, Madeline simply unzipped the upper sections of the boot that she found offensive and wore the boots as just the tan ultra minis.
“I suppose I can’t return these now I’ve called them a natural disaster about 10 different ways,” she mused.
Viewers were enthralled by Madeiline’s fashion wizardry.
“I just can’t unsee these as candy corn boots,” said one commenter.
“You made it work though! That outfit is actually nice,” said another.
“You can literally style anything,” wrote one TikToker.
