Roman Kemp hit by over 100 Ofcom complaints as furious fans complain about blunder live on radio show
ROMAN Kemp’s radio show has been hit with more than 100 Ofcom complaints after it ridiculed a small business live on air.
Capital Breakfast, which also features ex Radio 1 star Chris Stark and new This Morning host Sian Welby, has been accused of bullying by angry listeners.
The trio targeted Chocolate Moments over its viral bar of crisps product – essentially a chocolate bar stuffed with crisps.
They questioned the legitimacy of the brand and made disparaging comments such as claiming the website looked like it had been “made by a child” and that it probably operated “out of a garage”.
Sian, who has been dubbed the new Holly Willoughby because of her rapid rise on This Morning, said she had found the company on her Instagram and went to its website, concerned it might be a ‘scam’.
Seeing some of the chocolates out of stock, she said: “Has it already failed? Is it bankruptcy already? It’s not been as popular. It says it’s all out of stock. Do you think it’s ever been in stock?”
Small business owner Maria Antoniou shared an audio clip of the moment along with a video of herself listening along.
She captioned it: “So many have said how triggering the comments, cackling and bullying behaviour is so I’ve added in a warning.
“So keen to hear your thoughts on the utter annihilation of my website, phone number, email…!!!”
One follower commented: “I think you need to apologize to the lady behind the @chocolate_momentsuk who started this incredible small business and the I must say the chocolate is amazing maybe you should try it before you laugh and be horrible. Kindness.”
Another said: “Oh what a shame! Can’t they think that they are totally messing with someone’s livelihood? A business you have put your heart and soul in to, and worked hard at building up, for years. How mean of them. Definitely get in touch.”
A third posted: “Wow!! What a bunch of bullies!! They sound horrible! If they ever do a phone in you should call them and call them out on their behaviour!! How dare they ridicule someone’s business like that!”
Maria then revealed on X that she has had no apology from the radio station, despite the growing number of complaints.
The Sun has contacted a representative for Capital for comment.
