I’m a celeb aesthetician – Trader Joe’s Drunk Elephant dupe is amazing for your skin, and it’s $7 instead of $68
FORGET Sephora – you can now get your glow game on at the same place where you go for discounted groceries.
A skincare pro’s biggest tip for getting effective and money-saving skincare dupes is going to Trader Joe’s.
Speaking to Apartment Therapy, celebrity aesthetician and Skin Lab founder Joshua Ross explained how he became a fan of the store’s Marula facial oil that is comparable to the much pricier $68 Drunk Elephant virgin marula face oil.
The California-based skincare guru to the stars also shared how the oils are beneficial for your face.
“Seed oils mimic the natural oils of your skin, so they won’t break you out,” he explained.
Ross was impressed with the skin-saving and most importantly, money-saving budget buy.
“The marula oil from Trader Joe’s is an amazing value for a great facial oil. Marula oil is from the seed of the marula tree and is rich in fatty acids and amino acids, as well as antioxidants,” he said.
The dupe that sells for a fraction of the price of the name brand buy, can be used on its own as a moisturizer or can even go over other facial creams for additional hydration.
The Trader Joe’s marula facial oil sells for $6.99 and is described as being produced from the first cold-pressing of marula seeds which are harvested only when the fruit has fallen to the ground.
The marula tree, which grows mainly in southern Africa, bears the hard nuts inside that can be mixed with water to create a traditional alcoholic beverage.
But beauty lovers worldwide are most enthralled with the nuts cosmetic oil which is derived from its seeds.
The light-textured oil is non-greasy, making it ideal for hydrating the skin. The product also offers antioxidants to promote a soft-radiance.
Ross also recommended the chain’s ultra-hydrating gel moisturizer, a dupe for more expensive products in the $50 to $300 range.
The Trader Joe’s gel moisturizer sells for $8.99 and is described as offering a light, aqueous formula.
The water-based gel formula is packed with skin elevating elements.
“It’s loaded with amazing beneficial ingredients like aloe, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin, which are all amazing ingredients that soothe, reduce inflammation, and hydrate the skin,” he explained.
