I unlocked a new gym fear with my mortifying moment, I was in immediate pain and disbelief
A FITNESS fan has dealt with an embarrassing moment at the gym that unlocked a new fear.
She was in complete shock after the awkward and painful weightlifting incident.
Self-described “lil brown gym rat” Sandhya (@sandsxfitness) documents her fitness and weight loss journey and shares her go-to exercises online.
In a TikTok video, she shared an embarrassing moment she found herself in while lifting.
She filmed herself doing a few barbell hip thrusts, a compound exercise that targets the glutes and hips with a weighted barbell laid over the hips.
Sandhya lifted up and down in a bridge motion before something unexpected happened.
“Today a new gym fear was unlocked,” the subtitle read.
Halfway through the clip, the pink bar pad snapped off and left her in “immediate pain.”
Her face turned into a grimace and she quickly dropped down and rolled the weight off of her.
At the end of the video, she turned to look at the camera and wrote in a subtitle that she was “in disbelief.”
She mentioned in the video caption that she was “bruised” and didn’t know how she “managed this.”
Several viewers related to her awkward experience, and others questioned why she didn’t have velcro pads for safety reasons.
“And that ladies and gentlemen is why I will always strap my bar pad to the bar,” one commented.
“I LOST THE STRAPS,” Sandhya replied.
“Anddddd that’s why mine has Velcro to lock it in place,” another wrote.
“Same thing happened to me and I literally have a scar from it,” a woman shared.
“THAT’S WHY I LIKE THE ONES THAT CLOSE. Ended up with bruises once and didn’t go away for two weeks,” a TikTok user added.
