I found the fastest way to dry clothes without a dryer or dehumidifier – it costs pennies and is used in the summer
IT seems that whenever you’ve finished one load of laundry, there is another to get through almost immediately.
Whilst you might not be able to stop washing piling up, you can speed up drying times with a household item that you won’t need until summer.
You’ll be shocked at how quickly you can get bulky items dry[/caption] One fan even claims to have dried bed sheet in less than an hour with this hack[/caption]In fact, it probably has been tucked away under your desk or will be hiding in a cupboard.
For those of you that haven’t figure it out yet, we are talking about the humble office fan (yes, you read that right).
Whilst you might be used to getting it out every time there is a heat wave, it’s actually amazing tool for getting through your wet washing.
Even on the dampest of days, you can still get your bulky bed sheet dry simply by pointing the gadget towards your washing.
Though it may sound too good to be true, the hack works because the fan helps to circulate the air surrounding your bedding which causes any extra moisture to evaporate faster.
Rather than letting your desk fan gather dust, this handy tool can also help you prevent mould and mildew as it moves humid air around your home.
If you are still unsure, Tiktok user Jay demonstrated the hack in action as he dried bed linens inside using an assortment of household items.
Having made a makeshift washing line from rope and a few clips, the US man placed the large desk fan in front of the bedsheet.
With the air now moving through it, you could see the bedding was almost dry thanks to this innovative hack.
If that weren’t impressive enough, Jay then claimed that his washing had dried in ‘less than an hour’ after using the desk fan.
His followers were also impressed, with one writing: “Thank you. This is better than someone telling me to hang it over my door. I don’t want it to warp. I need a quick solution.”
There is another reason why you should be using a desk fan to get through your wet washing though, especially if you want to save on energy bills.
For instance, a standard 9kg tumble dryer can cost up to £1.03 per cycle.
With the average household using it between 3-4 times per week, this could add an eye watering £160 to your electricity bill – according to Uswitch.
By comparison, the average desk fan will cost your just 25p if you run it for overnight (12 hours) as you sleep.
Even if you repeated this for a full week, you’d still only have to pay approximately £1.76 to get your washing dry and reduce the risk of mould.
If you are still struggling to get to the bottom of your laundry basket, you can also add an extra spin cycle to your wash.
This will help get any extra moisture out, which means you’ll have speedier drying times too.
