David O’Doherty is an Irish stand-up comedian born in Dublin in 1975.
He went to school at St Michael’s College before attending Trinity College Dublin.
He started his career in telemarketing and moved to stand-up in his twenties.
O’Doherty has been writing fresh shows each year for over a decade.
His stand-up has won many international awards including the prestigious if. comedy award in 2008 and the title of Best International Comedian at the 2014 Sydney Comedy Festival.
Away from the stage, he has written several books, two plays and released three comedy CDs.
His children’s book, Danger Is Everywhere, was selected for the UNESCO Dublin, City of Literature Citywide Reading Campaign.
In 2015 it was published in 10 languages around the world.
O’Doherty is no stranger to TV, having regularly appeared on BBC and Channel 4 TV shows including QI, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Would I Lie to You?
In 2012, he became the first Irish comedian to have their own Comedy Central Presents episode on American television.

David is known to be a private person when it comes to his personal life.

David is taking part in The Great Celebrity Bake Off 2024.
He will be joined by a lineup that includes Adam Hills, former EastEnders star Danny Dyer, This Morning presenter Dermot O’Leary, comedian Fern Brady, and TV personality Gabby Logan, among others.
Each week, four celebs will battle it out in which they tackle signature, technical and showstopper challenges in a bid to be named Star Baker.
During their time on the show, the stars will be raising funds for cancer research.
Stand Up To Cancer is a joint national campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 which has raised more than £93million in the UK.
Just like the main series, The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer will air on Channel 4.
Each episode will be available to watch on Channel 4’s streaming service.

Speaking ahead of the new series, host Alison Hammond said: “I’m totally in awe of this year’s celebrity bakers, all putting their baking skills, or in some cases lack of, under nationwide scrutiny to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.
“And as someone who proved to be something of a baking genius when I baked in the tent a few years ago, I was delighted to be able to show them the ropes and where the oven doors were.
