Heron Foods has hundreds of locations across the UK and prides itself on offering “big-name bargains for less”.
Heron Foods was a family business until it was bought by B&M Stores in 2017.
Since then the company has expanded rapidly and employs over 5000 people across 300 stores.
The majority of locations are in the North East and Midlands but the network is increasing, with some stores already in Cardiff and Luton.
Posting on social media, the savvy shopper took her followers around the less-known bargain supermarket.
She said: “Join me for a shop at Heron Foods – lots of bargains on offer!”
As she spotted cheap buys, she explained: “Join me at Heron Foods for a proper bargain shop.
“Now first up was eight cans of Diet Coke sublime lime for £1.49.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen them this cheap – Diet Coke in general.
“When I tell you I stocked up on them, I stocked up.
“Here is some Milka chocolate for 69p and these little noodle sachets are six for £1 or 29p each. Wraps are 39p.”
The savvy saver then spotted the XSELL range, which left her very impressed.
She continued: “This XSELL range is fantastic. Now, what I’ve been told about this is that the products in the packets are from big brands – the stuff they couldn’t necessarily sell or surplus stock, so they get put into this range and they sell for a lot cheaper.
“I always pick up a packet of brownies from this range because they are fantastic.
“Now onto the packets of rice – 89p. There is the Muscle Food range in Heron Foods at the minute. I’ve never tried anything from it but if you’re on a health kick, it’s perfect.
“Two for £1 on these [Hellman’s] sauces. I picked up one of these chilli charger sauces, there were a few different flavours in the range.
“All the noodle pots for 79p, lots of different flavours.
I find Heron Foods so much cheaper than Home Bargains.

“The cereals are a really good price in here – now I’m not a cereal eater but it’s so expensive in different supermarkets. I thought that was a bargain to be fair.
“And lots of stuff for Pancake Day and some picky foods. The picky food prices in here are fantastic and there’s lots and lots of range as well.”
Thrilled with her discounted shop, the woman beamed: “I love Heron Foods. I think in a time when the cost of living crisis is full blown, it’s a fantastic place to come.
“There’s such a vast range and for such fantastic prices.
“There are some things that are probably in line with places like Home Bargains, but I find Heron Foods so much cheaper than Home Bargains overall.
“And places like B&M – I feel like B&M’s got really expensive lately.
“Heron Foods and Farmfoods to me are by far the two cheapest at this moment in time.”
As she spotted more fizzy drinks, she added: “The cans of pop in Heron at the minute – I got a proper shock. All of them were just so cheap.
“And here’s a 10 pack of sublime lime for £1.99 – so I picked one of them up as well.”
I couldn’t get over the drinks prices!

The food fan then showed off her receipt, as she claimed: “Here is my shop for a grand total of £14.19.
“And with that I got about 30 cans of pop and loads of other treats.”
The receipt showed that the bargain hunter nabbed four packs of the Diet Coke, two ten packs and two eight packs – costing a total of £6.96.
For this, the fizzy drink lover managed to get her hands on 36 cans of the lime-flavoured Diet Coke.
Thrilled with her finds, she later added: “I couldn’t get over the drinks prices!!!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @cgc_1993, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it was shared just 16 hours ago, but has already amassed 35,300 views.
Shoppers rejoice
Social media users were left impressed with the woman’s finds and were eager to praise the chain in the comments.
One person said: “Heron and FarmFoods have insanely cheap prices right now! I love them both so much compared to the bigger supermarkets.”
To this, the savvy shopper replied: “Me too! It’s definitely worth the visit to them both.”
Another added: “Literally my favourite shop ever.”
To this, the bargain hunter agreed: “I love it too! And the surprise of what’s going to be a bargain that day.”
Whilst a third commented: “I agree with you, B&M is expensive.”
In response, the Heron Foods lover penned: “Isn’t it just! But it never used to be that bad. It’s a shame really.”
