I moved into a rundown council house with paint peeling off the walls & gave it the ultimate glow-up with B&Q finds
AN 18-YEAR-OLD has revealed the impressive “glow up” they have given to their council house.
Connor Skelsey shared his council house makeover via a video posted to his TikTok channel @connorskelsey.
When Connor first moved into his council flat, it was extremely bare, with paint peeling off the walls and stains on the floorboards.
However, Connor soon put his DIY skills to the test and the place now looks unrecognisable.
“What a ride it’s been”, he said.
In his bedroom, Connor has plastered the walls with shiny grey and silver wallpaper from B&Q.
Continuing with the grey theme, he has added grey curtains and a chic silver bedspread.
In the bathroom, Connor tiled the walls with large beige tiles from B&Q and installed a modern looking bath shower.
In the kitchen, he installed all new black units and a black dishwasher and in the hallway, he has hung large, silver framed mirrors and some stylish artwork.
Connor’s video has clearly left many impressed, as it has racked up over 910,000 views.
TikTik users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Connor’s renovation.
One user said: “That looks amazing, what a transformation”.
Another user said: “Very well done. Maybe you should make this your profession as you seem good at what you’re doing”.
A third user added: “It’s lovely and homely. Well done, enjoy your new home.”
Council tenants are allowed to make alterations and renovations to their homes.
However, they must make sure that any work conforms to building regulations and planning permission.
Council houses are provided by local authorities to those in need.
They are often cheaper than renting private housing and can also offer greater security from eviction.
Council houses are allocated to prospective tenants via a points based system, with those in greater need given homes first.
The council will contact you about an available property when you are high enough up the waiting list.
