Five things I’d never have in my home as a pro cleaner & why bathroom tiles are the biggest design decision you’ll make

LET’S face it, the easier it is to keep our house clean, the better.

And luckily, if you’re looking to renovate, a cleaning whizz, who runs Kings Cleaning Company in Australia, has revealed five things she would never have in her home…so you may just want to take note.

In the clip posted to TikTok (@kingscleaningco), she begins by discussing kitchen cupboards.

“Make sure they go to the roof, otherwise they’re going to be really greasy like this and you’ll be cleaning them all the time,” she says.

Next up, the cleaning pro, who points out that cleaners would make the best designers, notes how she’d advise steering clear of small tiles in a bathroom.

“Small bathroom tiles is a no go,” she says.

“Get big ones – they’re easy to clean otherwise you’re going to be scrubbing every little bit of grout like that…no thanks!”

The cleaning whizz goes on to say how roller blinds are also a “no go” for her.

“They’re too hard to clean,” she explains. “And shutters – they’re just a dust magnet.”

Instead, she recommends opting for washable ones.

Next up, the professional warns homeowners not to get dark tiles in their bathrooms.

“They show every hair, she points out. “Go for a pattern or a lighter colour for sure.”

And last but not least, the cleaning guru also recommends steering clear of carpets in bedrooms.

“They contain a lot of dust,” she says. “If so, put a rug down and then put your bed down, or just opt for floorboards.”

The video has since gone viral, racking up over xx views and hundreds of comments, with many quick to share the things they’d avoid in their home.

“I’ve always hated carpet, feels like it can never be clean unless you can dedicate tonnes of time,” wrote one.

The cleaning whizz replied: “Oh carpet is disgusting! I love it but once your a cleaner you can’t unsee what come out of our carpets.”

A second commented: “Amen, also black matte cupboards or mirror backsplash.”

“Agree with everything apart from bathroom tiles. I feel like the darker ones hide my hair but maybe it’s coz of the colour,” a third noted.

Meanwhile, a fourth chimed in: “Gloss, black kitchen cupboards. ABSOLUTELY NO!”
