My $1.79 makeup trick is controversial – I think it creates the perfect base but people say it’s a ‘recipe for disaster’
A BEAUTY influencer’s controversial makeup trick has people up in arms.
While she thinks the combo creates a flawless makeup base, many believe that it was a disaster in the making.
Swara (@by.swara) shared the beauty tip in a video with her Instagram followers.
A follower gave her the idea after they had great success mixing their foundations to achieve a dewy glow.
“I mixed my foundation with Vaseline and everyone was like ‘What’s on your skin? It looks so natural like actual glass skin,'” they wrote.
After trying it out for herself, Swara said she understood what all the hype was about.
She mixed $1.79 Vaseline with her foundation of choice, applying the mixture with a brush and showing off the final look.
“Mixing Vaseline and foundation to get the perfect base,” she said.
While Swara adored the makeup trick, many had mixed opinions about how safe it was.
“Perfect base for clogged pores,” said one displeased commenter.
“Cries in oily skin. That would clog my pores so badly,” said another.
Some thought that while it looked great on application, the Vaseline would destroy the foundation’s longevity.
“Girl that’s a recipe for disaster,” said one viewer.
A few thought that the trick’s mileage may vary for the right user and the right skin type.
“Vaseline is non-comedogenic, however, it does seal moisture into your skin, so as long as your face is clean, Vaseline won’t clog your pores or make you break out,” said one commenter.
“But again, this will vary from person to person so do a patch test before doing this.”
