I’m known at the ‘Irish bra fairy’ & my Plus 20 method ensures you get the right size every time – it’s ‘mind-blowing’
FROM digging in to not offering enough support, finding the perfect bra is hard to come by.
But if you’re having problems with an uncomfortable fit, then chances are you’re wearing the wrong size.
Well, lucky for you, a bra expert named Sandra, who works in a lingerie shop, has shared her top bra fitting tip that she claims will “probably blow your mind.”
In the clip posted to TikTok (@irish_bra_fairy), she says: “Did you know that your bra size, the band of your bra, is basically your dress size plus twenty? Yup, I’m telling you!”
“So UK size 10, you should be in a 30 back, UK size 12 should be a 32.”
She continues: “Now, obviously, like everything, this is not an exact science.
“But you can safely take it that if you are a size 12 and you are wearing a 38 back, your bra’s wrong.”
And if you have any doubts on Sandra’s working out methods, then you’ll just need to take one look at the comments section to be convinced.
“Right for me. Size 18 , 38G. Was surprised how many of my friends were wearing wrong size,2 wrote one.
A second penned: “Omg!!! Mind blowing! And so true in my case ! But I always forgot my size so put in under my contacts in my phone. Now I know. Thanks!”
A third commented: “True for me!”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “That’s right for me!”
Another chimed in: “Omg this is wild! I wore a 34C until you measured me and I’m … a 28 back!! (And a U.K. 8).
And a further added: “I never knew that!!! It’s true I’m an 18 and wear a 38!!”
In another helpful video, the bra whizz shared a one-minute guide to finding your correct bra size – although points out hat brands and styles will vary, but it gives a good start.
“Using a soft measuring tape wearing just your bra, you’re going to do a snug measurement underneath your bust in inches.”
She goes on to urge people to make sure the tape is level at the front and back, before noting how this is going to give you your back size.
“So let’s say you’re going to get 32 here, you’re wearing a 32 bra, then you;re gong to do another measurement on the fullest part of your breast,” she says.
However, she warns not to have it too snug because you don’t want to squash “the girls.”
She goes onto explain that say for argument’s sake you get a 40, that’s your cup size.
“So you’re going to take your 32 away from your 40 which leaves you 8 inches,” she says.
“Each inch in the difference represents a cup, so one is A…B, C, D, DD, E, F, FF.”
The bra guru notes that with this method, an 8 inch difference gives you a FF cup.
However, she points out that this is going to differ whatever your back and band size is.
