‘Tom and Molly are for keeps, her head won’t be turned by ex Callum’, insists Love Island winner and best pal Sammy Root
LOVE Island winner Sammy Root said his good pal Tom Clare is the perfect man for Molly Smith.
Sammy, who won the 2023 summer series with Jess Harding, insisted Molly’s head won’t be turned by ex Callum Jones.
The Kent-based lad, 22, is convinced that Molly’s feelings for Tom is real and believes he’s won her over with his natural charm, despite fans at home saying he’s “boring”.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Sammy said: “I’m a bit bias because I’m friends with Tom on the outside, so I personally have to say I’d like to see Tom win.
“All the couples in there are getting on well and are qualified to win. It’s going to be very exciting to see who does, and I think there’s going to be more twist before the final.
“The way Tom comes across on Love Island, he isn’t the loudest maddest person but he is actually a very funny person and you never actually see that side of him on Love Island.
“I actually said this myself, I think he comes across quite dry but if you actually know him, he’s funny, he’s chatty, he’s a lot of fun.
“At the end of the day, it’s 40 minutes out of 24 hours get show and that’s not all on him.
“Unless he’s being funny and lively throughout the whole entire day, you’re not going to see that side of him.”
Last night’s video calls from home revealed that the public have been rooting for Callum and Molly to reunite.
When asked if he could see the exes rekindling their romance, Sammy said: “You never know if you’re the perfect couple until you leave the villa, villa life is so different to normal outside life.
“In the villa, I think Molly and Tom get on very well and I can definitely see them staying together.
“But at the same time, a lot of people are saying about Molly and Callum – I don’t know if that’s the sort of dreamer kind of thing.
“The public that are saying that haven’t been in their relationship for the last three years and I know if they realise how crazy it would be to get back together now or what would be different.
“Never say never, it could happen but personally I would like to see Tom stay with Molly but at the same time if Callum and Molly feel that they should be together, then they should be together.
“That’s how the game goes.”
Sammy admitted that Molly and Callum will always share “chemistry” but it shouldn’t be read into anything more.
Sammy shared: “I feel like you can see the odd bit of chemistry but I feel like that’s a given when you’ve been together for the last three years and now you’re in the same environment everyday – you’re going to have the odd bit of chemistry between each other.
“Whether it’s getting back together chemistry or just where they know each other so well.
“Personally I can’t see them getting back together.”
Sammy insisted that Tom has nothing to worry about when it comes to his fellow co-star Callum – but said post-villa life may throw up some challenges.
He added: “Sometimes it seems perfect in the villa and then you come outside and it’s different.
“You don’t know what can happen.”
Sam said his good pal Tom is not a player and is looking for the right girl that he can treat right – saying he would treat Molly right.
“Although Tom’s very laid back and chilled but I think he does like a girl there that he can be content with her.
“I don’t think he’s bothered about running around chasing girls. I think he is very much a relationship boy.”
Fans across the nation have been rooting for Callum and Molly to reunite, even though Molly is now coupled up with Tom and Callum with Jess.
And Molly learnt this fact when she enjoyed a video call with her pal in last night’s episode.
Her mate let slip that the UK have been shipping them to get back together, and Molly informed the girls of this fact when she debriefed back at the firepit.
And tomorrow night’s explosive teaser saw Georgia Harrison pass this juicy information back to Tom.
Tom looked gutted, saying: “Even if there is even a one percent chance [of them getting back together] I want to know.”
Molly is then seen in the kitchen, commenting that Tom “looks fuming”.
