Roman Kemp ‘lined up for huge ITV job after Ben Shephard quits GMB’ say bookies
ROMAN Kemp could be ‘lined up for a huge ITV job after Ben Shephard quit Good Morning Britain’.
On Friday it was revealed that Ben, 49, and Cat Deeley are the new faces of This Morning.
Ben has left his role on GMB for This Morning[/caption]Betting company Ladbrokes believe that Roman, 31, will now replace Ben on the morning news show after quitting Capital.
Their latest odds see Roman on top with 4/1, followed by Adil Ray [5/1], Rylan Clark [6/1] and Alison Hammond [6/1].
“Our traders are putting two and two together here, and with a Ben Shephard shaped hole to fill, the odds suggest Capital’s loss could well be Good Morning Britain’s gain,” Labrokes’ Alex Apati said.
It comes after Roman announced that he’s quitting Capital Radio after six years earlier this morning.
Speaking on the radio today, Roman said: “I’ve got quite a big announcement and it is one that is really weird to say out loud.
“It’s really odd, to be honest I had no idea how I start this. So I’ll come out and say it.
“This is going to be my last six weeks on Capital. Which is a weird thing to say.”
He continued: “What I can tell you is I’m not saying goodbye right now, I’m not leaving the show today and that’s it, but it’s not far away.
“It will come and that goodbye will come in five to six weeks.
“It’s not a decision that has come overnight either, it’s massive, I’ve not found it easy at all.”
The Sun revealed the presenter will be replaced by a former Radio 1 DJ and I’m A Celeb star.
On Friday, it was revealed that Jordan North had joined the Capital FM Breakfast team after quitting Radio 1.
Ben has since broken his silence on his new role with This Morning.
He said: “I’ve loved hosting Good Morning Britain over the past 10 years since it launched.
“When I left GMTV, I always swore I’d never go back because of the early mornings and it goes to show how wrong I was.”
“I’m grateful that my extended GMB family is only next door so that whenever I get nostalgic, I know I’m not going to being far away. Although I’ll miss being on screen with them, my later starts mean I may be able to hang out with them all a bit more!
“One of the hardest decisions of course is knowing that my mornings with Kate, my on-screen wife of nearly 20 years, is coming to an end.
“Her journey has been well documented, and I think we would all agree how remarkable she has been over the last four years.
“I won’t miss the mess but I’ve learned so much from her, as I have from all of the people I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside.”
Ben joined GMB in 2014.
